Institutional Solana Staking: Marinade Is Now Live on Anchorage Digital

Institutions can now access optimized SOL staking through Marinade directly on Anchorage Digital, combining automated validator strategies with qualified custody and full asset control.

Key takeaways

  • Marinade, the leading decentralized staking protocol on Solana, is now integrated with Anchorage Digital, the only federally chartered crypto bank in the US approved to offer staking.
  • Institutional clients can stake SOL through Marinade Select or Marinade Max Yield directly on the Anchorage Digital platform and Porto, its self-custody wallet.
  • SOL remains in qualified custody with Anchorage Digital Bank N.A. at all times. Clients never give up control of their assets.

Marinade staking is now available to institutional clients on Anchorage Digital. With this integration, asset managers, ETF issuers, and other regulated institutions can access Marinade's automated Solana staking strategies without leaving qualified custody and without additional workflows.

This is the first time institutions can combine Marinade's decentralized validator optimization with the regulatory standards of a federally chartered US crypto bank.

Why institutional Solana staking has been hard until now

Staking SOL at institutional scale has historically forced a choice between three things: yield, decentralization, and control. Running validators in-house is operationally expensive. Delegating to a single operator concentrates risk and leaves yield on the table. Using third-party staking protocols has typically meant stepping outside qualified custody or introducing additional counterparties.

The result: most institutions have either under-allocated to Solana staking or accepted compromises on one of those three dimensions. This integration removes that tradeoff.

What institutions get with Marinade on Anchorage Digital

Marinade solves a structural problem on Solana: how to stake efficiently across a decentralized validator set without sacrificing performance. Our strategies allocate stake across hundreds of vetted operators and rebalance dynamically based on performance, reliability, and network health.

For institutional allocators, that translates into three concrete benefits:

  1. Higher risk-adjusted yield. Automated delegation across a broad validator set, continuously optimized for yield and uptime, instead of static selection of a handful of operators.
  2. Broader validator diversification. Stake is distributed across many high-quality validators, reducing concentration risk and supporting the long-term health of Solana.
  3. Zero operational overhead. No validator selection, monitoring, or rebalancing required. Allocators access the benefits of active delegation without the operational cost.

Through Anchorage Digital, these benefits are now available without leaving qualified custody and without any additional integrations or workflows.

Marinade Select vs. Marinade Max Yield: choosing the right strategy

Institutional clients can choose between two Marinade products on Anchorage Digital, depending on their mandate:

Marinade Select is a compliance-focused staking strategy that delegates exclusively to a curated set of approximately 30 KYC-verified validators. It is built for institutions with specific regulatory or risk requirements, including ETF issuers, asset managers, and other regulated financial products that need a vetted, transparent validator set.

Marinade Max Yield is an automated strategy that dynamically allocates stake across Marinade's full validator set to optimize yield. It is suited for allocators whose primary objective is risk-adjusted performance across a diversified, decentralized validator base.

Both strategies are available directly on the Anchorage Digital platform and Porto, Anchorage Digital's self-custody wallet.

How your SOL stays in qualified custody

The integration is built on a native Solana staking mechanism: staking authority and withdrawal authority can be separated on every stake account.

Clients delegate staking authority to Marinade, which handles validator selection and rebalancing. Anchorage Digital Bank N.A. retains withdrawal authority at all times. The underlying SOL never leaves qualified custody. Clients can unstake and withdraw at any point without relying on Marinade or any third party to return their assets.

For regulated institutions, this is what makes active, decentralized staking viable at scale: the benefits of delegated optimization, with custody and control retained end-to-end.

What this means for Solana

Anchorage Digital's client base includes some of the largest asset managers, allocators, and financial institutions active in digital assets. Bringing Marinade to that base is a meaningful step in scaling institutional participation on Solana.

More SOL delegated through optimized, decentralized strategies strengthens the network in every direction: more distributed stake, higher-quality validators, and better economic alignment across the ecosystem. Institutional capital entering through Marinade pushes Solana toward a more decentralized and resilient validator set, not a more concentrated one.
