Introducing Zaps, smarter Solana DeFi with mSOL
Solana DeFi enthusiasts, Marinade is pleased to announce Zaps, an update to the app that introduces smarter, higher-performance DeFi to your wallet’s positions.
Solana DeFi enthusiasts, Marinade is pleased to announce an update to the app that introduces smarter, higher-performance DeFi to your wallet’s positions.
Here at Marinade, the Chefs believe everything that SOL does in the Solana ecosystem could be done better with mSOL. After all, mSOL is a decentralizing, liquid staked version of SOL tokens. (Blockworks Research even called Marinade’s mSOL the “Base Layer of Solana DeFi.” Well said!)
Liquid staking mSOL on Solana is a win-win-win proposition:
Solana network is better because of Marinade stake pool’s decentralizing strategy.
Solana users enjoy staking rewards + additional DeFi opportunities with mSOL.
Solana protocols get more TVL from staked tokens thanks to mSOL.
So with ultimate performance and Solana DeFi yield in mind, introducing … Zaps!
What are Marinade Zaps?
The premise of Zaps is simple: What if you have a SOL position that could be utilizing the more performant, stake rewards-bearing mSOL liquid staking token instead?
And better yet, what if this position in your wallet could be automatically detected and enable you to convert the position instantly?
That’s the power of Zaps. Marinade has installed Zaps to automatically detect SOL positions that could be performing better for you — and the Solana network — as mSOL position instead.
To start, Marinade has launched two versions of Zaps:

How to use Zaps to convert SOL stake to mSOL liquid stake
Have a stake account to a single validator? Marinade Zaps will detect it in your wallet automatically and enable the ability to instantly convert it for mSOL stake.
How to use Zaps for the Raydium LP
If Raydium’s APY for SOL LPs are estimated higher than mSOL, the Zap will not surface on Marinade’s DeFi page. You can still of course swap this SOL LP to mSOL, but will have to do so manually on Raydium itself.
Keep in mind that APY’s are always an estimate and do not guarantee future staking rewards. But mSOL’s APY has been a reliable ~6% because its staking rewards is accrued after each epoch based on SOL rewards to the Marinade stake pool.
What’s next for Marinade Zaps?
Marinade devs are considering integrating Zaps across all of our Solana DeFi partners. After all, whenever SOL is being used in DeFi, it is not contributing its maximum potential to the network like the liquid and decentralizing mSOL does. So, should they proceed with adding additional integrations to the Zaps? Stop by Discord and let them know how you like the feature and which DeFi protocols are just begging to be Zapped!
